Rare Antique Yellowware Pitcher With Corn Or Wheat Raised Design
A rare & simply beautiful antique English yellowware pitcher. Fantastic sculptural raised relief of corn or wheat. Raised diamond mark to base dates it to 1858. More incredible still is the wheat design present on it's base. To date, I've never seen another piece where the surround design is also replicated to the base.
A wounded warrior, this gorgeous piece has lost its spout & rim to each side of the spout a goodly long while ago. A purist might not like this. In my view, it simply adds to the character, beauty & history of a life well lived.
Sublime colour, crackle & patina. No longer waterproof. If you wish to use for flowers, simply place a cup with your flowers inside the pitcher.
