A beautiful pair of antique hand painted tiles.Wonderfully faded & moody, the upper depicting a riverside with a windmill and the lower a sailing ship beneath a clouded sky. The varnish has faded from these, leaving wonderfully moody images.
Likely Dutch, the tile though was manufactured in Germany. In original frames, the paper backing on one is missing and has been taped back at some point. I would suggest cleaning simply with a dust cloth as the paint on many of these old hand painted tiles will disapear if cleaning fluid or water is used. They measure 6.5" x 6.5." $
