A beautiful circa 1748 copper plate engraved map of Luxembourg by Gilles Robert de Vaugondy. Titled 'Carte du Duche de Luxembourgh" the map features hand coloured details highlighting the Duchy of Luzembourgh.
First published in Paris in 1748. It was engraved for inclusion in smaller format atlases like the Atlas Portatif Universal. Some light foxing to the paper. Measures 11.5" x 9.5."
*The Robert de Vaugondy family were prominent 18th century French cartographers. Based in Paris, father Gilles (1688–1766) and son Didier (1723–1786) built upon the legacy of the Sanson family to produce the influential Atlas Universel (1757) and meticulously crafted terrestrial and celestial globes
