A wonderful large 18th century carved wood gilt hanging angel. Exquisitely carved with beautiful detail, she has an incredible & riveting presence. In superb patina with wonderful character wear.
Absolutely brilliant on the wall. Italian or French. Some as expected age related areas of missing gilt, early repair to an ankle & toe which have had breaks at some point in her storied life. Her wings are carved separately to the body & have later screws affixing them to her body. Originally mounted to a wall simply through holes in her form she has a later wire which she can be hung from.
Rare & exquisite. She measures 28" l x 13.5" w x 9" d.
