This wonderful bronze relief sculpture from Josef Petriska (1929-2015) depicting the Toronto skyline, circa 1970's, is a maquette of a much larger piece that was commissioned by the Eaton Center. He made only a few of these which were presented to dignitaries involved with the commission.
Petriska was both artist and environmentalist. He is most renowned for a 4 metre high sculpture of a dying bird, a poignant work, brought on after witnessing the horrors of a California oil spill on the local wildlife. His work is featured in public and private collections around the world.
