A wonderful 1920's French pochoir possibly with handcolouring depicting a couple at the casino. Wonderful image, graphics and colours. Unsigned, it's very reminscent of pochoirs & prints by Kees Van Dongen, particularly the detail in the neclace, the hands etc. It's also in the style of Georges Goursat (SEM) but with finer cleaner more refined lines & compelling graphics. And what it reminds me of the most is a caraicature of the inseparable Jean Marais & Jean Cocteau.
There are two spots with wee holes to the top right corner & just beneath where at some point the underside clip that holds the back wire has poked through. Easily rectified by simply rematting. Unsigned. It was purchased in Paris many years ago. Measures 18 3/4" x 15.5."
