An absolutely superb decorated early 19th century English canaryware serving plate. Wonderful canary yellow & silver lustre star burst or crown with a Greek key or 'meander' surround. A rare pattern, the canary yellow as well, considered a rare & special glaze, it's also a wounded warrior which I adore but a purist may flee from.

The back has five staples on one corner, the other corner has had early glue repairs. To my eyes, the backside with the abstract repairs is as appealing as it's decorated front. Clearly loved, clearly treasured, a both a rare glaze type & plate.

Five staples to one corner. Glue repairs to a secondary corner & a hairline. The repairs appear as hairlines on the top surface. Age related discolouration to white areas. Yorkshire or Staffordshire England. Circa 1815 to 20. Measures 8" w x 1.5" h.
